Municipal Elections
Municipal elections are usually held on the 2nd Tuesday in June. Any state elections and/or state referendums are held on the same day. Voting would take place by secret ballot at the Town Office. Occasionally there is a need to hold a special town meeting which will be announced according to statutory requirements.
Referendum Elections
Referendum elections are held to provide Maine’s citizens an opportunity to vote on people’s veto referenda, direct initiatives of legislation, bond issues, other referenda proposed by the legislature, and constitutional amendments. Referendum elections are an important part of the heritage of public participation in Maine.
Elections are held at the town office at 15 School Street from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. unless otherwise notified.
Registration
One may register to vote at the Town Hall during normal business hours and at the polls at all elections.
Absentee Ballots
Maine election law provides that an absentee ballot application may not be made available more than 3 months before the election for which the application will be used. Absentee ballots may be applied for at your local town office or via the
Maine State Government Website.
